TWO local physiotherapists have just returned from Buckingham Palace where they were royally congratulated for the part they played in Lancashire County Cricket Club’s triumph in the LV= County Championship.

Lancashire lifted the trophy last month after winning the most prestigious and highly sought after title in English cricket for the first time in 77 years.

But behind every winning team there are unsung heroes – in this case, physios Dave Roberts and Sam Byrne who have been working with the Lancashire team for 10 seasons. The pair recently opened David Robert Physiotherapy Clinic on Northenden Road in Sale.

Sam Byrne is based at our Old Trafford Clinic.

“It was fantastic to be invited,” says Sam. “I’ve never been inside the Palace before and certainly haven’t met any royals before. It was quite a surreal experience. It was great for all our wives and partners to be invited, too. Sales of dresses and shoes must have rocketed!”

Underdogs Lancashire were crowned Champions after beating Somerset in the last moments of one of the most exciting and memorable County Championship climaxes in years.

Team captain Glen Chapple said, “Us guys in white on the pitch always get the recognition and applause when we do well. The fact is we couldn’t do our job without the skill and expertise of people like Sam and Dave who are constantly working hard behind the scenes to keep us on the pitch.

“I limped off on the first morning of our final game with a hamstring tear but miraculously they put me back together and, with a bit of strapping, I was able to get back out and help us to a memorable win.”

Although physios to the stars of sport, David Roberts Physiotherapy Clinics offer a wide range of specialist treatments to improve wellbeing, including physio, massage, acupuncture, podiatry, one-to-one Pilates sessions and nutritional advice.

“Our aim is simple – to become the trusted ‘go to’ clinic for the people of Sale when they have any injuries or niggles. We can’t promise them a brand new body but we’ll give them the next best thing!”

A big thankyou to Gareth and all the staff at your Oldham branch.

I’ve just completed one of the toughest treks in Nepal, the Makalu/Everest section of the Great Himalaya Trail, crossing the Sherpani Pass West Coll and Amphu Labtsa passes. 3 weeks before I was due to leave England I sustained a knee injury playing hockey and thought my dream trip was over.

I can’t thank you enough for getting me back on my feet and able to complete the trek.

Dear Andy and the David Roberts Physio team at Hazel Grove!

On behalf of my daughter, I cannot ever thank you enough for the speedy and effective treatment you have provided to manage her writing hand/arm pain caused by excessive revision!! Without you, she would not have been able to revise for her maths exams at University (she writes it all down to remember it!).

As a support teacher in a sixth form college I am coming across more and more cases like my daughter’s, due to the fact possibly that with the advent of the computer, we write less than we used to! You can be sure I will be recommending your practice to my students.

With every best wish

Just wanted to say thank-you for the treatment received following my car accident and to praise Edel for the excellent job that she has done.

Although I was not in acute pain following the car crash it was apparent that my middle to lower back was quite badly hurt. Edel worked on the problem areas over eight sessions and, whilst on occasions it was quite painful and I occasionally felt sore afterwards, invariably a couple of days later the progress was evident. Each time I attended I felt less stiff and a bit stronger. This week, eight weeks on from the accident, I have played a round of golf (with no adverse reaction) and spent a day digging up the lawn at my “renovation property” (again without any reaction). I would not even have contemplated doing either of these things a few weeks back.

So thank-you for all your help and I would not hesitate to recommend Edel and David Roberts Physio.

Best Regards
Andrew
