Cycling to the Ashes…

Sometimes something just grabs the imagination!!
Here at David Roberts Physiotherapy we are very proud of our links with the Leukeamia Research Fund and the Andrew Flintoff Foundation. David Roberts himself has given many hours to these charities and our team is constantly looking for opportunities to help raise money for these fantastic causes.
But this was one that just caught the imagination of our Managing Director, Phil Collins.
Oli Broom has chosen to do something that most of us can only dream about…cycle 14 months and 25,000 kilometres, from Lords cricket ground in London to the Gabba in Brisbane, in time for the start of the next Ashes series in November 2010!! Phew!!
Along the way he is hoping to raise £100k for the British Neurolgical Research Trust and the Lords Taverners.
Phil was blown away by this commitment and has promised him 2 tickets for that first Test match in Brisbane…the phones are already buzzing to Austraila to try and source them!!! Good luck on that one Phil!!
Meantime, our Clinical Services Director Keith Johnstone had some far more practical help to offer…..a consultation with Oli offering him some sane advice on keeping himself going for that long and that many miles. And the best bit of Keith’s advice…..he’s given Oli his number and asked him to call any time he is struggling with a niggle or an injury en route….can’t wait for the call from the sub continent in the middle of the night that wakes our sleeping Scotsman from his slumbers!!!!
You can follow Oli and his progress here….www.cyclingtotheashes.co.uk
Good luck Oli!!!!
