Andy Byrne will be travelling to Germany to provide the Physiotherapy cover for the Haverstock Training Camp. The camp is an International training camp for Epee fencers and is run each year in the Olympic Training facility in Tauberbischofsheim. This is the third year that Andy has been to the camp, which is run by former British No. 1, and two-time World Cup winner, Jon Willis.
Andy says: "The camp is always great fun. Everyone works hard, but enjoys themselves and it's great to see everyone improve through the week. I'm just there to make sure that everyone stays healthy and can keep fencing. It's a great facility they have in Tauber, and it's a pleasure to work in such a high quality venue. I didn't know anything about Fencing until I met Jon [Willis], but whilst I was rehabbing him after hip surgery, I learned a lot about the demands of the sport. The injuries are varied: Ankle sprains, knee problems, shoulder pain, blisters, cuts and a lot of bruises, after all they do insist on hitting each other with swords!"
Andy will be tweeting updates and pictures from the camp. Follow him on twitter @AndyThePhysio, and follow us @DRobertsPhysio
