Acupuncture
Several members of our Physiotherapy team are skilled in the use of Acupuncture as part of your treatment programme.

Acupuncture is a treatment with its roots in ancient oriental medicine. It usually involves the introduction of fine, sterile, single needles into specific points of the body to either decrease or increase energy flow in order to reduce your pain and promote good healing. The specific approach will be tailored to your condition.
Acupuncture is one of the many skills used within our physiotherapy team as a combined approach to the management of inflammation or pain and as a method of enhancing the body’s own healing chemicals in order to aid recovery and enhance rehabilitation. Acupuncture within physiotherapy is used within the background of clinical and research evidence. The concept of Traditional Chinese Medicine [TCM] is an ancient system based on the holistic concept of treatment and an acknowledgement of the body’s ability to return to its balanced state of health, when given the correct stimulus to do so.
Our Physiotherapists’ practising Acupuncture have completed Postgraduate Qualifications in this specialism and regularly update and maintain their skills to ensure the most effective, safe and competent application of this techniques.
Our Physiotherapists using acupuncture are full members of the Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (AACP) and will only perform this technique with your full, informed consent.
