This is a specific form of therapeutic massage developed to improve tissue healing, break down scar tissue, improve joint movement and improve blood flow. It is a deep massage technique which is applied across the tendon, muscle or ligament. It is often sore initially, but a numb feeling usually starts after a short while.
It is one technique regularly used by David Roberts Physiotherapists to treatligament sprains and tears or tendon injuries. It is sometimes used before manipulation or mobilisation to enable increased movement. We strongly believe in the need to re-strengthen the injured structure as it recovers and will guide you through the rehabilitation process with the correct stretching and exercises. We always aim for best possible healing and to avoid recurrence.
