Pilates

What is it?

Pilates teaches body awareness, muscle control and a good posture. It improves flexibility, agility and strength.

Pilates exercises develop a strong “core,” or centre of the body. The core consists of the deep abdominal muscles along with the muscles closest to the spine.

1228756597_pillates_ballPilates is different from conventional workouts, where weak muscles tend to get weaker and strong muscles tend to get stronger. The result is muscle imbalance – a major cause of injury and chronic back pain.

Pilates is a safe, sensible exercise system. No matter what your age or condition, it will work for you.  It is perfect for rehabilitating injuries, especially back and neck pain and many of our patients go on to attend weekly classes or have one to one instruction.

Contact any of our clinics for further information about classes or one to one Pilates.
